The 1st FSIC 2024 is dedicated to encouraging inclusivity, fairness, and courteous treatment of all conference participants. The organization strives to create a secure and professional culture where participants can acquire knowledge, establish networks, and engage in a welcoming environment characterized by mutual respect. All individuals involved in the event, such as attendees, presenters, volunteers, organizers, and others, are required to adhere to this Code of Conduct. This applies to all of the conference events.
Prohibited conduct encompasses the following:
- Any form of harassment, intimidation, threatening speech, or discrimination, including but not limited to race, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, physical appearance, veteran/military status, marital/partner status, parental status, age, sexual orientation, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in presentations, or any other protected category.
- Sexual harassment includes acts and words (verbally) such as unwelcome sexual attention, physical or virtual stalking, and uninvited physical contact.
- Acts of physical aggression, shouting, or any form of intimidating conduct.
- Interference with presentations occurring during sessions, in the exhibit hall, or at other events, whether they are conducted in person or virtually.
- Virtual presentations must not include any promotional materials, employment offers, requests for services, or product announcements.
- Replicating or capturing any chat room activity that occurs in the digital form without permission.
As a critical component of scholarly exchange, FSIC promotes freedom of expression and robust debate and is committed to establishing a secure, hospitable, and productive environment for exchange that is devoid of intimidation and discrimination. FSIC encourages all individuals involved at the conference will exhibit self-control and civility, even in the presence of intense disagreement, and refrain from engaging in ad hominem attacks or harassing behavior.
The FSIC regards violations of professional or ethical conduct with utmost seriousness. Any breaches of this policy should be reported privately to the FSIC contact center. Any breaches will be reported to the conference board and could result in penalties, such as being excluded from the conference or event. Anyone who observes or undergoes sexual assault or other breaches of national law is strongly advised to promptly inform law enforcement authorities about the incidents. FSIC retains the authority to undertake any action that is considered essential and suitable, such as promptly expelling an individual from an in-person or virtual event without prior notice or refund, in response to any behavior that is deemed unacceptable. Additionally, FSIC also has the authority to disallow attendance at any forthcoming event, both virtually or in person.
Should anyone experience or witness any violation or potential harm or be subjected to inappropriate behavior at any conference event, they are encouraged to report the incident immediately to the FSIC contact center. The FSIC will endeavor to maintain the confidentiality of reports in order to evaluate the incident.
